Description

Join us for a screening of the film Finding Dory, with light refreshments served in the Sculpture Courtyard before the film.

This event is the first of the Crip* Film Series. The program emerged from conversations with the Crip* Advisory Committee, whose members expressed the desire to have alternate media to complement the works on view. The films were chosen from suggestions by the Advisory Committee, as well as research from WAM staff. We hope you find the selection interesting and come to all four screenings (stay tuned for Spring semester dates and times!).

Co-hosted by CoWAM, an interdisciplinary student group based at the Weatherspoon Art Museum. Free and open to all.

Dimensions of Wellness: Health Yeah!

When considering health, we often think only in terms of physical and mental health; however true wellness is much broader. A holistic approach to wellness supports the whole person and encompasses eight dimensions. Each dimension contributes to optimal health and well-being, including physical, emotional, social, intellectual, career, cultural, environmental, and financial wellness. This presentation will explore the eight dimensions of wellness, provide an opportunity for you to examine your relationship with each dimension, and discover new ways to support your health and wellness.

Safe Coping: Self-Medication No More

Do you feel like you have lost control in your life?  Are you engaging in risky behaviors? Are you numbing the pain with alcohol and/or substances?  This group is for students who want to establish healthy coping strategies. Each session will focus on a specific strategy to help you cope with trauma and substance use. Students will have opportunities to engage in mindfulness techniques, creating a secure space, skills in setting boundaries, or ways to empower yourself through vulnerability. Note: this is group is intended to learn about coping mechanisms but is not to process or delve into the disturbing trauma or addiction memories.  Drop-ins are welcome!

UNCG DOC Fall festival

UNCG DOC would like to collaborate with other student group organizations to host a day of celebration due to the fall season. Our student group is formed by predental students aspiring to be dentist. As a former student of the dental assisting program at Guilford Technical community College we have successfully partnered up with GTCC'S dental clinic. Our association has been fundraising in order to host a full day of frer dental care for our community at GTCC. Throughout this event we will be tabling and hosting yard games for people to interact and donate for our cause.
